This is a beautiful gold leaf gilt Louis Philippe mirror that was made in France at the end of the 19th century.
The rounded corners are typical for French Louis Philippe mirrors. This one has a more rare “hump” on the top of the frame giving it an unusual and appealing style.
The frame is decorated with intricate mixed figures and cross pattern.
The parts with the polished gold leaf have a red bole undercoat that shines through the edges of gold and adds warmth to the gold color.
The mirror has built up a nice patina over the many years. The quality of the gold is excellent and wears the marks of time beautifully.
The mirror glass appears to be original to the piece. The glass shows a few small spots and scratches that contribute to the antique appearance of the piece.
Good condition. No repairs made. The cracks are due to age and add to the beauty of the piece.
